I believe people really matter in an organisation

I’ve never been a big fan of “Human Resources” – actually what we’re talking about is human beings.

In my wide experience in HR, working for large organisations and advising smaller businesses, one thing stands out: people really matter.

I believe that employee experience is the new HR.

“Adept at creating a long term vision”

“As a Business Leader and CEO I often ask myself who I will want as part of my team, to partner me and be good company for the journey. Sheena has taken HR to a new level as the Chief Peoples Person in a Modern World, by making work life a valued experience for both Employers and Employees, giving each the ability to enjoy a great workplace experience, and the ability to enjoy a happier work life. A seriously well experienced HR person, who can unfold, update and review, and keep information flowing from the Shop Floor to the Boardroom. She is adept at helping create a long term Vision, and implementing and sustaining this through ongoing updating, using a people centric framework. Great go to person for any CEO or Business Owner. I have no hesitation in recommending her highly and yes, I would retain her services as I know my life as a business leader would be a much happier one, and so too would my employees. A top class, highly experienced credible person of the highest integrity.

“Sheena is adept at helping create a long term vision … using a people centric framework.”

Sheena Doyle

Calm, responsive expertise when you need it

Hello, I’m Sheena Doyle. I’m a fellow of the CIPD with over 30 years’ experience in HR working for companies such as Starbucks, Boots, Royal Bank of Scotland and a variety of smaller businesses.

My passion is helping SMEs, charities and social enterprises to not just deal with HR issues, but build a fantastic company culture and employee experience.

Hiring an external HR consultant is the flexible solution which growing companies need. It feels like having an in-house HR professional, but is far more cost-effective. I’m always available at the end of the phone whenever you need to ask a question or get advice on an issue. And I can collaborate with you to build the employee experience which enables you to get the best from your people.

And of course it goes without saying I will guide you through the employment law minefield, managing risk and avoiding pitfalls.

Let me start you on the road to being a great place to work, and remain with you as you grow.

Wide HR experience

I’ve worked for a number of businesses in different sectors, in roles up to and including European HR Director.

I’ve always been an HR generalist, meaning I can deal with almost everything that might arise in your business from an HR perspective.

My HR career started with Asda in my hometown of Leeds, moving on to other retailers such as Iceland Frozen Foods, House of Fraser, Boots and Starbucks. I have also spent considerable time in financial services HR, including the Royal Bank of Scotland. My most senior role was at Exova spending almost four years as the European HR Director.

More details of my experience can be found on LinkedIn.

In all this experience my one underpinning belief is that people are the most important asset in a business. I’ve seen first hand how a great employee experience retains the best people and helps to sustain and grow the business.

Charities and social enterprise

I have always been inspired by the work which social enterprises and charities do. I am currently enjoying providing HR support to a number of charities and I am a non-executive director for a social enterprise. It’s a privilege to provide my services at a reduced cost to these organisations.

“The power of coaching”

“Sheena was my HR Manager at Starbucks Coffee Company for many years as I progressed through my career in the company. Sheena was fundamental not only in my own development but to the wider talent management within the business. She naturally has a human-centered approach to resolve culture, recruitment, and retention issues and can easily relate to all employees within a corporate or small business environment. Coaching and Mentoring were key to her success and personally she introduced me to the power of coaching and leading a team to succeed their full potential.”
